Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm

Since May 21, 1948, El Jaala Grotto No. 56 has been a proud part of Chicago’s Masonic tradition. We are a fraternity of Master Masons who believe in the spirit of camaraderie, fellowship, and fun while staying deeply committed to the principles of Freemasonry. As members of the Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm (MOVPER), we provide a unique space where Master Masons can enjoy lighthearted gatherings while continuing to serve the Craft and our communities.

Who We Are

El Jaala Grotto is composed of active and dedicated Master Masons from Lodges across the region. Our members are involved in all branches of the Masonic family, including:

• Blue Lodges

• York Rite

• Scottish Rite

• Shrine

• Other appendant bodies

We are more than just a group of Freemasons—we are a brotherhood dedicated to fellowship and charity, balancing the serious work of Freemasonry with the joy of fraternal fun.

Our Mission & Charity Work

As part of Grottoes International, we proudly support the Humanitarian Foundation, which provides dental care and support to differently-abled children. Additionally, we contribute to various local Masonic and community causes, ensuring our presence is felt beyond our own meetings and events.

Degree Work & Masonic Support

El Jaala Grotto is home to an in-house Blue Lodge Degree Team that assists local Lodges with degree work. We take pride in helping to maintain the integrity and excellence of Masonic ritual while offering a fun and relaxed space for Masons to unwind and enjoy fraternity.

When & Where We Meet

We generally meet 4th Tuesdays (Dark in Jan and 3rd Tues in DEC) in the Chicagoland area. If you’re a Master Mason who enjoys good fellowship and great times, we would love to welcome you into our Fezzed Ranks!
